1) Pre-Print Checklist
Before sending files for print, confirm each of these points to avoid errors and reprints:
- Color Mode: CMYK → Always design and export in CMYK, not RGB, for accurate print colors.
- Resolution: 300 DPI → Ensure all images and graphics are high resolution for sharp results.
- Bleed: 3 mm → Add bleed around edges so designs don’t cut off during trimming. Templates already mark the bleed area.
- Safe Zone → Keep text/logos at least 3–5 mm inside the trim line. The template shows this zone clearly.
- Fonts Embedded/Outlined → Convert fonts to outlines or embed them to prevent replacements.
- File Format: PDF/X-1a → Export to print-standard PDF for best compatibility.
- Black Text as 100% Black → Use 100% K (not rich black) for small text for crisp readability.
- Overprint Settings → Check overprint is correctly applied to avoid missing print areas.
- Layers Flattened → Flatten transparency and layers to ensure consistent output.
- Proofread Text → Double-check spelling, grammar, and content before exporting.
2) Packaging Checklist
Packaging requires extra care because it’s structural and functional. Check:
- Substrate Choice → Select correct material (paperboard, PP, PET, kraft) for durability and look.
- GSM/Thickness → Ensure chosen material can handle product weight and folding.
- Die-Cut Accuracy → Confirm dieline is set properly with fold lines, cut lines, and bleed.
- Adhesive/Folding Panels → Ensure glue areas are marked and sufficient for secure closure.
- Finishing Options → Decide if lamination, varnish, foil, or UV will be applied.
- Crease & Fold Strength → Check that the design allows proper folding without cracking.
- Barcode/Legal Info → Confirm barcode size, positioning, and legal text placement.
- Nutritional/Ingredients (if applicable) → Ensure compliance with FSSAI/packaging regulations.
- Mockup Test → Create a prototype or digital mockup to confirm structure before bulk print.
- Transport Durability → Consider whether the packaging will withstand shipping and handling.
3) Book & Label Checklist
Book Checklist
- Page Count & Pagination → Confirm all pages are in sequence and no blank pages missing.
- Binding Choice → Choose correct type (Center Pin, Hard Case, Wire-O, etc.) for book use.
- Spine Width → Calculate spine width correctly based on page count and paper GSM.
- Cover Setup → Extend cover artwork to include spine + back cover + bleed.
- Margins for Text → Keep text away from inner binding edges for readability.
- Paper Type → Choose interior paper (matte, glossy, uncoated) based on content.
- Proof Copy → Always review a soft or hard proof before full production.

- Finishing Options → Spot UV, Foil, Lamination if required for durability or branding.
- Legal Text → Verify mandatory information (MRP, batch no., expiry, FSSAI/ISO logos).
- Barcode/QR → Check code readability and correct placement.
- Print Contrast → Ensure text is legible against background color/design.
